Dr. Nimit Goyal is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist and the Clinical Lead for Gwent Interventional Radiology at Grange University Hospital. Under his leadership, Gwent IR has been recognised as a BSIR exemplar site and an IASIOS-enrolled centre, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in patient care and procedural innovation. Dr. Goyal has played a pivotal role in expanding the scope of interventional radiology at Gwent IR by introducing Geniculate Artery Embolisation (GAE), Prostate Artery Embolisation (PAE), and Portacath insertion, significantly enhancing treatment options for patients. His dedication to innovation was recognised in 2024, when he won the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Research and Innovation Award for his pioneering work on GAE for osteoarthritis. Further solidifying his impact in the field, Dr. Goyal and the Gwent IR team won the prestigious Mediwales 2024 award in the Health and Social Care Research Partnership with Industry category, highlighting their contributions to collaborative research and patient care advancements. Dr. Goyal is extensively involved in clinical research, serving as the Chief Investigator for the GAE for OA in Wales trial and as Principal Investigator for key studies, including EVOCC, Motion, Better UAE, and CLARITY trials. Beyond his research and clinical commitments, he is passionate about training and mentoring future interventional radiologists, ensuring continued innovation and excellence in the field of IR.
